Job Opening Summary

Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: VP Engineering

General Responsibilities Outline

  • Assist in the development of new manufacturing processes and methods
  • Increase efficiency of existing optics fabrication processes, to include documentation and training
  • Investigate reasons for inefficiencies, determine a course of action, and present to Management
  • Review new equipment for installation and operation. Write procedural manuals as necessary and train technicians on proper use and care
  • Assist department supervisor by lending expertise in engineering principles to ensure smooth operation of the department
  • Train technicians on proper manufacturing processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, optical engineering), or equivalent relevant experience in optics manufacturing, as deemed by PFG Management
  • Hands-on engineering experience on the production floor gained through work or internships (i.e. fabrication, troubleshooting, problem solving, machine operation and programming, working with and training technicians, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Methodical, detail-oriented and organized
  • Effective writer and oral communicator

Job Opening Summary

Position: Sales Engineer
Department: Sales & Marketing
Reports to: Sales & Marketing Manager

General Responsibilities Outline

  • Learn/understand company’s exiting capabilities and the broader precision optics market.
  • Learn/understand customer’s products and how our optics and coatings are used in them.
  • Keep up-to-date on the optics industry and customer industries to maximize knowledge and authority during customer contacts.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email and regularly scheduled customer site visits to secure the role as the go-to person for precision optical needs.
  • Research and identify new markets and tenaciously work to develop new customers.
  • Manage customer service by providing guidance to, and coordinating with, our CSC on quotations (price and delivery) and managing customer expectations, ensuring effective communication is carried out and customer satisfaction is maximized.
  • Interface internally with engineering and production to meet customer requirements, including manufacturability and short deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or science field and/or experience in optics
  • At least 5 years of technical sales experience (optics preferred)

Job Opening Summary

Position: Fabrication Supervisor
Department: Flat Polishing/Shaping
Reports to: Production Manager

General Responsibilities Outline

  • Manage the both the Flat Polishing and Shaping Department, including but not limited to: reviewing bids and job prints, creating/maintaining work instructions and post process notes, and troubleshooting production issues that arise
  • Coordinate Flat Polishing and Shaping production schedules with other departments to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Master department capabilities and strive to continuously improve processes and people
  • Train and develop department employees through on-the-job training and annual review of performance
  • Effectively manage machinery and tooling use/care, as well as department cleanliness and organization
  • Communicates department progress and needs with Management, Operations, Maintenance and Administration personnel, as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or alternatively, high school diploma with relevant experience
  • At least five years of flat optics polishing experience, or other relevant technical experience
  • At least five years of experience in a management/supervisory role

Position: Quality Inspector
Department: Inspection
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

General Responsibilities Outline

  • Learn to read and understand technical drawings and industry standards related to glass production and inspection
  • Learn proper cleaning and inspection techniques to check the surface quality of glass parts during the production process
  • Learn to effectively use metrology equipment to check the dimensions of glass parts we make against their print
  • Accurately keep records of the results obtained from the inspection process
  • Cross-train to learn other tasks throughout the department

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or relevant vocational training and/or related work experience
  • Good eyesight, including near vision and depth perception
  • Ability to work in a low-light setting
  • Ability to hold glass pieces of varying sizes for extended amounts of time to inspect quality

  • High School Diploma, GED or relevant vocational training and/or related work experience
