Precision Windows

Precision Optical Windows

Precision optical windows are designed to protect sensitive optical systems while maintaining high transmission and minimal wavefront distortion. Manufactured to tight flatness, parallelism, and surface quality requirements, they provide a clear optical interface without degrading system performance. Precision windows can be produced in a wide range of materials and coatings to withstand harsh environmental conditions, high laser power, and demanding defense applications.

Expertise in Precision Window Manufacturing

Precision window manufacturing requires tight control of parallelism, surface quality, and transmitted wavefront error to ensure optical systems perform as intended. Our expertise spans material selection, high-accuracy polishing, and advanced metrology to deliver windows that exceed specifications in demanding defense, semiconductor, and industrial sensing markets.

PFG's double sided polishing process yields windows with extremely low wedge and transmitted wavefront error at very good economy and volume. Combined with vertically integrated coating, inspection, and shaping capabilities, PFG is the perfect answer for precision windows at scale.

Custom Window Configurations

PFG specializes in manufacturing precision optical components in a range of geometries, supporting a broad range of materials from ultraviolet to mid-wave infrared (MWIR) applications. Here are some specialty window configurations:

shaped window

Shaped Window

Shaped windows have custom profiles which are typically created on CNC shaping equipment. PFG's advanced lens centering equipment can also create such shapes for higher levels of automation and scale.
three filters

Optical Filters

Optical filters selectively transmit, block, or reflect specific wavelengths to control light within an optical system. These are often made from an absorptive, filter glass substrate along with filter coatings.

four windows with conductive coatings

Conductive Windows

A window with a conductive coating creates an optically transmissive element with an electrically conductive surface for applications such as EMI shielding, charge dissipation, and resistive heating.
